- Where is your proof that black cultural pathology contributes significantly (if at all) to the problems facing Black america.
- The problem with highlighting the “glorification” of crime and violence, hyper-masculinity etc. in the black community is that this decontextualizes our collective experiences. If there is a glorification of violence in the black community it is part and parcel of the glorification of violence in the broader American (read: dominant) culture. Let’s not act as though what gets read as pathology in the black community doesn’t happen at similar (or higher rates) in other communities including the “white” community.
Summary: the cultural pathology analysis of black america is from the american conservative political philosophy playbook. It's a tired, racist argument that has been thoroughly debunked with tons of empirical data. If you want to see the data, I’m happy to refer you to several books that survey the research.
